Review: Shenanigans by Sarina Bowen

Woop Woop! For the last edition of the Brooklyn series. Since Bombshells, I am loving the mixture of male and female hockey teams, even though the injustice is bugging the heck out of me. I hope there are more people like Becca that at least trying to find creative ways to support their female players.

We were first introduced to all the amazing women who play for Bombshells in the last book, Bombshells, and Shenanigans features the one I was most curious about, Charlotte Fern Higgins, aka Charli. Charli is a firecracker. She is independent, strong, and hardworking. Her childhood was not a good one and from early on she learned that she can only depend on herself. She tends to keep everyone at arm’s length but keeping away from her teammates is getting harder and harder. She is also not a fan of male hockey players. However, thanks to Sylvie and Anton, Bombshells and Bruisers are interacting more and more, and she becomes friends with Neil. The first time they met was not ideal and it is not something Neil wants to remember but Charli being her amazing self makes sure Neil remembers it 😊 Cornelius Harmon Drake III, aka Neil, is the heir to a billion-dollar company and a professional hockey player. You might think he is a snob, but he is one of the most down-to-earth people you can find. He works hard and never uses the privileges his name provides.

Thanks to the all-star game/competition in Vegas most of the Bombshells and Bruisers players get together. After a night of partying and getting drunk, Charli and Neil wake up with more than a hangover. In addition to their killer hangovers, they have a missed flight, an ugly ring, and a marriage certificate. Since they don’t want to add more problems to their plates, they decide to leave Vegas and deal with it in New York. However, the moment they leave Vegas things get more complicated. Since there is no easy way for annulment, Neil decides to use this marriage to his advantage. He only needs to convince Charli to play along being his legally fake wife. I loved the banter and chemistry between these two. I adored Neil and how he was with Charli but Charli at some point annoyed me. I can understand where she is coming from and after the things, she went through but come on Neil is the sweetest 😊 If you are looking for an easy, fun, and steamy story induced with jealous exes, crazy relatives, and meddling teammates, don’t miss Shenanigans.

Next on the series is Love Lessons which will feature Vera and Crikey will be released in July and from what I read in the epilogue; it will be a fun read. I am also looking forward to reading Newgate’s and Fiona’s stories as well. I am curious what kind of journey Sarina Bowen will take me.
