Last February Sawyer Bennett published the first book of her new fantasy series Chronicles of the Stone Veil. I love fantasy and Sawyer Bennett but to tell you the truth, it was hard for me to put this two together. At first, I wasn’t sure what should I expect but I was hooked, and then when the series ended, or I thought so, I was disappointed. Then she announced there will be more books in the series and I was delighted because there were so many more characters, I wanted to learn more about. However, this book wasn’t about the ones I was really curious about. I didn’t even know the hero or heroine before this book. Yet it was another enchanting story that left me yearning for more.
Princess Thalia is the sole heir to the throne of Vyronas after her parents were killed but Vyronas was invaded by Ferelith, the evil sorceress. Thalia lost too much in a short period, her parents, and her kingdom, but she was still hopeful because she still had her soulmate, Bastien Dunne and they were trying to get Vyronas back. What she didn’t see coming was Bastein stripping her memories and sending her to the First Dimension, aka Earth. For seven years she lived on a horse ranch in Wyoming believing she is someone she is not. But one night everything in her world turns upside down when Bastien shows up to save her. At first, she thinks he is a crazy person but when he releases all her memories and she starts to remember, she is angry, confused, betrayed, and heartbroken. After hearing the message Gods delivered by Maddox, her only option is to follow Bastein back to Vyronas. She is an amazing heroine. She is smart, strong, loyal, and caring. But being back in Vyronas is both a blessing and a curse for her. She is happy to be back with her people, to fight with them, to get the freedom they deserve but facing a war with Ferelith is not the hardest thing, being in a battle with her emotions and facing Bastain on a daily basis is. Even though it is a struggle for her, she cannot dwell on her feelings, she has to fight for her people, for everything she lost. Despite the fact she comes from the strongest line of magic, her being a Clairmont won’t be enough to win the war. For them to have a fighting chance against Ferelith, they need alliances and knowledge about blood magic. The journey she started to win the war soon becomes a journey to the truths.
I love every minute of this book. I was hooked from the beginning and also scared that there will be a cliffhanger at the end, and I had to wait to read this rest just like the first books. THANKS GOD this time there wasn’t any or at least not like before 🙂 Yeah, I know I am too cryptic. Sorry, not sorry 🙂 Also, I didn’t like Bastain but after learning what he chose to do so that he can be sure Thalia is safe made him one of my favorite BBFs 🙂 Annnnnddd next book in the series is Amell’s, which I am dying to get my hands on:) THANK YOU Sawyer Bennett for this magical series that causes me sleepless nights 🙂
