No, no, no, no! Not again… Why Ms. Bennett why? I know at the end of my review of The Revelation of Light and Dark, I said; ‘this time I am ready for the cliffhanger’. Yeah, ready my a**. I wasn’t lying when I said this and believe me I did my best from beginning to end. I coached myself and I knew there will be a cliffhanger but come on not like this… I am so sorry that I am word vomiting on you guys but I just finished reading the book and I wasn’t even planning on writing the review right away but I couldn’t sleep and I was constantly going why, why, why so I decided to unload on you 🙂
A Discovery of Secrets and Fate is the second book of Sawyer Bennett’s new series Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and Finley’s adventure resumes where it left off. Finley is still trying to process all the things she learned about the world of Gods, Deamons, Light Faes, Dark Feas, and everything that comes with it. She is struggling to keep up with all the changes these brought to her life and her struggles sometimes cause her to make reckless decisions. Soon she realizes the consequences of her recklessness can be too much to bear. I love how loyal, honest and strong she is. While Finley’s powers are increasing there are still too many unknowns regarding what she is capable of and while they’re looking to get answers, the whispers about her and her powers are increasing which puts her and people around her in more danger. As for Carrick, since the first book, I was super curious about what he is. So, when I start reading the book I was looking forward to the moment it will be revealed. To tell you the truth I almost gave up that it will be revealed in this book but somewhere around 75% of the book, when I was least expecting, we finally learn what Carrick is, and let me tell you I was not expecting what he is. Other than learning what he is, he remains a mystery, but I am hoping while his and Finley’s relationship keeps developing, more about him will be revealed. Their journey to Faere to see Arwen, the Scryer, helps them to reveal some unknowns but they still need more answers but now at least they have a new lead to follow.
As for the other characters in the book; we learn a bit about the five Gods that form the Council but not much about their standing regarding the prophecy. As for Zaid, Maddox, and Lucien, even though we learn a bit more about them, just like Carrick, they are still a mystery. I am loving Myles and Rainey more and more. They are amazing friends, and they do their best to be there for Finley. As for the royal family of Faere, Queen Nimeyah, King Callidan, Princess Deadra, and Prince Pykalias, aka Pyke, not much to report other than I truly disliked Deadra and Pyke seemed cool but then again just like Zaid always says never trust Faes even they are Light Faes. I was a bit disappointed to not see more of Eliana and Ronan, who were the hero and heroine of the Clash of Yesterday but I am still hoping to see them in the future books because the ending of that novella made me super curious 🙂
This series is pretty addictive and when you are done you just want to grab the next book and keep reading. The third book of the series The Evolution of Fae and Gods will be released on March 23rd so if you are just starting the series or this book, you are lucky because you won’t need to wait too long 😀
