Code Name: Ghost by Sawyer Bennett

As you might see from my reviews, lately I am mostly reading and reviewing hockey romance, which I love. But then again it was a time to take a break from my beloved hockey goons 😀 This was a welcoming break from it and Code Name: Ghost being one of my most anticipated book of 2020, put a cherry on the top 🙂

The last rescue mission of Jamison security went wrong, and two employees, Jimmy and Sal, died while Malik Fournier was captured. He was aware of the high-risk missions Jameson was hired to deliver and being an ex-marine, he was used to being part of dangerous missions. Now, after five months of captivity, he is finally back home. He is trying to get back to his normal life but the guilt he is feeling keeps him from moving forward. He is not the only one, who is suffering from mission going wrong, Anna Tate is the widow of Jimmy, who was killed in action. The saddest part is when Jimmy was leaving for the mission, she was pregnant. Now she has a four-year-old daughter, who never will get a chance to know her father. My heart aches for the people who lost their loved ones because of the war. Anna is one of the strongest characters I ever read about. She is also independent, loyal, and hardworking. Anna working as Kynan’s assistant allows them to see each other daily which helped them to build up their friendship. They have a unique bond due to sharing the same loss. At first, this was great support for them both because they just get what the other one going through. However, with time it gets harder to disregard the attraction they feel towards each other. But before going forward they both have to face their demons and overcome them. They are also not sure how will people reach their relationship. Also, I love Malik’s family. He has two brothers, who are hockey players and a sister who is married to an ex-hockey player. They are all understanding and always there for each other. I loved how they never asked him to explain the things he went through until he was ready to tell.

Malik and Anna’s story will take you on a journey you won’t regret. It is emotional, heartwarming, inspiring, hopeful, a little funny, a little sexy story that will make you feel all the emotions at one point or another. I loved the friendship, loyalty, and support, Jamieson team have for each other. I am curious about where the story of Jameson will take us next… Code Name: Rook is the next book of the series which will be released in October. I am dying to see how Cage’s lies will catch up with him and if he will be able to get out of it without too much of a trouble.
