Game Changer by Kelly Jamieson

Game Changer is the fifth book of Kelly Jamieson’s Wynn Hockey series. I cannot believe it is already the fifth book but no worries there are still quite a bit kids and grandkids to cover 🙂 This book presents you a run-away bride and a run-away (kind of) Wynn.

Jackson, aka Jax, Wynn plays hockey for Chicago Aces. Jax is smart, funny, kind, generous, and reserved. He is also a trivia junkie. He is the only one who lives across the country. Since getting the news about grandfather’s Alzheimer’s and all the things that have been going on in the family, he wants to visit California and spend time with family during his summer break. He only has one stop to make before flying to California, his teammate Steve’s wedding. What a wedding that is. He has no idea that the wedding will become a new adventure for him.  Molly Flynn is a 3rd-grade teacher, who is about to become a hockey wife. She is smart, caring, compassionate, and understanding. The night before her wedding, she receives explicit text messages showing her fiancé’s unfaithfulness. So, as payback, she leaves him at the altar but while planning the payback she forgot to make a getaway plan. But no worries there. One thing leads to another and her savior with a shining armor becomes her trivia partner Jax. She also didn’t think about what will happen after her runaway-bride act, the fans, the media… She is desperate to leave Chicago for a while and desperate times bring desperate measures, so she begs Jax, who is also ex-cheater’s teammate, to take her to California with him. Jax knew it wasn’t a good idea to take Molly to California with him but thinking using her as a buffer might help him with his family, he agrees. Their short trip to California turns out to be a summer-long adventure for both of them. I loved how Molly encouraged Jax to face his emotional baggage and his family. She was always there to support and listen to him. It was great to watch their friendship to bloom something more.

Game Changer was sweet, sexy, heartwarming, and so much more. It was the beginning and then the end, I have no idea how the time flew while reading. I wish it was a bit longer but then again, I am sure that wouldn’t be enough as well. If you are looking for a new series to start, I recommend you start reading the Wynn Hockey series.
