‘The Risk’ by Elle Kennedy

I love Elle Kennedy and her books. When I first heard the news of  ‘Briar U’ series, I couldn’t wait for them. As predicted ‘The Chase’ first book of the series was awesome and then the wait started for ‘The Risk’ to be published. At first even though we knew it will be Brenna Jensen’s story, the hero was not revealed till later. Anticipation for the reveal of the hero was painful but it was all for the best.

Everyone thinks Brenna Jensen is a bad girl but they are far away from the truth. She is beautiful, feisty, confident and if you get through the tough exterior you can see that she is really sweet and caring. Ohhh! and dad is head coach of Briar hockey team. Jake Connelly is the star forward and the captain of Harvard hockey team, the biggest rival of Briars Hockey team.  Jake is arrogant, loyal, and panty melting handsome. Every time Brenna and Jake run to each other, they start fighting like cats and dogs. So when Brenna needs Jake to be her fake boyfriend in order to secure an internship, she makes a deal with the enemy. Jake realized that it is impossible to fight his attraction towards Brenna so the deal he offers is a real date for every fake date they go to. So slowly but surely Jake convince Brenna to date him for real. But they keep it as a secret since they are not sure how their friends and Coach Jensen will react. I loved how Brenna worked her issues through out the book and fixed her relationship with her father. I loved Brenna and Jake’s relationship; I think they are a perfect fit for each other. There are so many things I wanted to say but I really don’t want to ruin the story for you guys.

‘The Risk’ is sweet, funny, steaming and heartwarming story that you won’t be able to put it down. If you enjoy enemies to lovers, college love, hockey romance stories, this book is a perfect fit for you. Also, the next book in the series ‘The Play’ will be released on October 7th, 2019. And since we have no clue who the hero and/or heroine of the book are, I have so theories regarding the subject 🙂 I really want the book to be Brooks “Bubble Butt” Weston’s story but since he is a Harvard player that is probably a no go 😦 So that leaves us Hunter Davenport with an unknown heroine or Mike Hollis and Rupi Miller’s story. If I had a chance to pick between the two of them, I would definitely pick Hunter because if he falls for someone finally Fitz and Summer can be free of guilt 🙂

  • Would I recommend this book: Yes.
  • Would I re-read this book: Hell Yeah! 🙂
  • Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
