I am a huge fan of Toni Aleo and when I hear ‘hockey’ and ‘book’ in a sentence, she is the first person that comes to my mind. Assassins and Bellevue Bullies are my favorite book series of all time 🙂 I don’t even remember how many times I read these books. For example, I was feeling down and didn’t want to read much lately and what did I do, start reading Assassins again. For me it is a cure to my readers block LOL! So back to Toni Aleo’s new release ‘Misadventures with a Rookie’.
Bocephus, a.k.a Bo, Saint James is a studying to become physical therapist. She is independent, smart and strong. In order to support herself she teaches ice skating classes and also an ice girl for Malibu Suns. Gus ‘the Bus’ Persson is rookie defenseman for the Malibu Suns and he is one of the best in the league. He is ready to start playing for NHL and he knows that day is coming. He is hot, cocky, and loud. When it comes to women, his motto is ‘one and done’ and he never has a problem finding one. However, when certain red head keeps rejecting him, he cannot resist pursuing her. Their chemistry is off the charts and everyone around them can feel their attraction to one another. And their banter will crack you up 🙂 When you start learning more about their back-stories you will realize that looks can be deceiving. Bo seems strong and settled but her insecurities and broken heart will cause her to second guess everything. Will her past cause her to give up one of the best things in her life or will she come over her insecurities and get her happily ever after? That is for you to figure out.
As always Toni Aleo did her magic and ta-da you have an amazing book that you can read in one sitting. ‘Misadventures with a Rookie’ is funny, sweet and emotional story that you won’t want to miss out. The only disappointing thing about this book is, it is a standalone and I wanted to read more about Bo and Gus. I hope there is at least a novella following the book.
