‘Clipped by Love’ by Toni Aleo

‘Clipped by Love’ is the second book of ‘Bellevue Bullies’ and it is one of my all time favorite sports romance books. Hero of the book is my favorite Sinclair: Jayden and he is also my favorite hero in both ‘Assassins’ and ‘Bellevue Bullies’ series.

Jayden Sinclair is the middle of the Sinclair brothers. He is loving, thoughtful, and loyal. He is the fixer; he supports and tries to protect everyone he loves. He is also a hottie 🙂 His parents’ divorce affected him more than he lets anyone see. He is focused on hockey, school and his family. He wants to get in to NHL so he can support his mother financially. He wants to become the best captain Bellevue Bullies ever had and does everything to achieve this. So when Jude offers to spend a weekend in Florida as brothers before the school and NHL season starts, they are all on board. When their weekend starts, Jayden realizes that it wasn’t what he imagined it would be because Jace is constantly trying to get laid, while Jude texts Claire non-stop. Everything changes for Jayden when a girl crashes their street hockey game.

Baylor Moore is beautiful, strong, smart, and focused. She works really hard in order to become the first woman in NHL. When she is not playing hockey, she is socially awkward and insecure. Her friends convince her to take the weekend off from her training before the school starts so that they can have a girl’s trip to Florida. Even though, she promises she won’t talk about hockey all weekend, she cannot stop herself to join Sinclair brothers’ street hockey game.

Street hockey becomes like foreplay for Jayden and Baylor. After the game one thing led to another and by the help of alcohol, Baylor and Jayden shares a lot of things nobody knows about and it is really sweet. But everything goes to sh*t when Jayden tries to be a gentleman but end up being an a..hole. They both think they will never see each other again but that changes when Baylor’s dad, who is also a hockey coach, accepts the job offer from Bellevue Bullies.

The moment Jayden sees Baylor, everything they share comes back rushing. Even though, he’s not looking for a girlfriend, he cannot stop attraction and fascination he feels towards Baylor. On the other hand, because of how their Florida encounter ended, Baylor feels rejected and refuses to lower her guard towards him. She is a pro at pushing people away and not letting anyone get close to her. But soon Jayden and rest of her teammates will make her realize that in order to succeed, she needs her teammates and their friendship. I loved how Baylor and Jayden challenge each other and bring out the best in each other and it was great how their relationship evolved and how they both helped each other to heal and become better.

‘Clipped by Love’ is emotional, steamy and fun read. One of my favorite moments in the book is Jude and Claire’s wedding. Other than being an emotional scene that brought me into tears, I had a chance to read a bit about my other favorite couples Elli & Shea and Phillip & Reese. If you enjoy sports romance and didn’t read any of the ‘Assassins’ or ‘Bellevue Bullies’ books, it is not late to start 🙂
