‘Beyond the Red Carpet’ by Debbra Lynn

‘Beyond the Red Carpet’ is Debbra Lynn’s debut novel and I have to say it was a great read and holy sh*t it was not what I expected when I started to read this book. I haven’t read a lot of murder mystery books but this is definitely not a classic murder mystery story. I will do my best to keep this review as spoiler free as possible so I won’t ruin the story for you.

Sophia and Marcus Donovan were married for 11 years. They both have successful careers. Sophia works for a celebrity magazine and Marcus is a hot shot Hollywood director. If we go back 11 years to the day they meet, career wise everything was different for them. They meet at a party that was hosted by Alex Preston, who was one of the famous directors in Hollywood. Sophia was working for a catering company, which was hired for the party, as a waitress and Marcus was an assistant director to Alex Preston. The chemistry between them was undeniable when they first meet at the party. They fell in love hard and fast and after a short period of time, they got married. The story goes back and forth from present to past and shows the events Sophia and Marcus faces during the 11 years of marriage, which will be shocking most of the time.

This novel is different from the classic murder mysteries because at the beginning of the story you learn who was murdered and by whom and afterwards throughout the story you slowly discover why it all happened. The story is full of twists and turns and it will keep you guessing until the end.

‘Beyond the Red Carpet’ is a fast and easy read, which is full of love, jealousy, betrayal, suspicion. You won’t be able to put it down until you are done with it. I am dying to start reading the second book and see what else will happen so stay tuned for the review of ‘Heart of Stone’ the second book of the series 🙂
